I think the canonical picture for each solid (the one in the gallery) should be the version closest to the real solid: ideally with panels for the faces.
I'm working on a very pretty set of pictures using my premium panels.

Good idea! We could use that as the first entry as well. The other versions can be moved to the extension heading or removed if they don't contribute something new.
PS: Don't you use the signature button (fourth button from the right) to put your signature in?

ok I completed my first premium panel entry at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/karlhorton/sets/72157600286402236/ and I'm presented with a problem .... I suppose I just move the existing version to an alternatives section?

That sounds good to me. I have already linked alternative versions by adding "see also" followed by a gallery of alternative versions (e.g. Image:Cuboctahedron.jpg) in each of the images that are depicting the same object. What do you think?
